More Canadian music, get happy!

I just discovered The New Enemy maybe a week ago, and they are one of my favorite bands to listen to when I am bummed about going to work, which is always.
Outsourced, they're new EP packed full of energy and aggression. Surprisingly, i found a large amount of melodies included in the tracks. One wouldn't think harmonies would come into play on a Toronto based Punk Band's Ep, but low and behold, it does. Fast paced rhythm guitar accompanied by overlayed harmonies add to the originality of the EP.
Some of the guitar parts reminded me off of something I would hear on a NEw Found Glory Record, but with Vocals more for those into hardcore. Not that I'm dissing NFG, but I found myself getting right into the EP, rather than skipping tracks on NEW Found Glaory CD's to get to the good songs.

Absolutely amazing and well worth the listen.

Did I mention it's free to download?

you will find the link to the album there, it is a mediafire download.

I haven't updated this blog in a while and I apologize to those who read it, the few of you at best. Consistency is a bitch, and schedules are not the way I usually live my life by.

But I have thoroughly enjoyed Casting Curses new Record.
It's catchy and enjoyable from the first time I listened to it. The Guitars have a very unique sound, in my opinion. They have that Southern vibe, but the vocals are just in your face. I love hearing strong vocals over heavy guitar rhythms, Its something about that combination that got me into Hardcore, and I'm glad to hear it again.
I would compare them to Braindead and bands a like, but with more emphasis on the weight of the guitar and heavier parts in most songs.

Check these guys out, they are from Quesbec, so Home soil for me.

The interview with Let down is below. Thanks Justin and Bob for taking the time to answer the questions!

What was your first introduction to hardcore and the music scene?
Well, when I was younger I used to hang out with a lot of older dudes who sort of took me on as their protege. I was getting a lot of exposure with the So-So Def label and everything until an incident involving my limo driver where I needed 36 stitches to seal my asshole.

All of you have been edge for a long time, whats it like growing up in a society where constant pressures and strains to give in to drugs?
It's hard but sometimes you just have to man up and face it. Like when the press gets ahold of your hospital forms and discovers that you had to have your stomach pumped for swallowing too much semen. You just have to tell yourself that you're the Queen Bee and you have B.I.G. in your corner, face the player haters straight on and keep on doing what you're doing. And not go deaf like Foxy Brown.

What keeps you guys on the road, recording and doing what you are doing?
The support of my brother, our great job at this burger place where this wild shit always happens, the thought of climbing inside the milkshake machine at work, and my crippling addiction to orange soda.

Your lyrics are pissed off, straight to the point. Would you consider the energy you put into your music and playing live therapeutic in anyway?
That's part of it but really most of the reason we do Let Down is because all of our records and songs and shit are part of this over-arching story, like we're working on the novelized version of it right now but basically each release we did is like a new chapter in it. They're about this cat who is down on his luck and desperate to succeed. The first 7 inch is actually called "Let Down: The Trials and Tribulations of Whiskers Furribottom" which is sort of just about his struggles and shit like that, "Crossed Off" is called "Crossed Off: The Heinous Acts of Whiskers Furribttom" which is like about all this fucked up shit he had to do to survive, etc. "Sacrifice Me - Whiskers Furribottom and the Horrible Revenge of Squeaky Mouseman" which is just about his arch-enemy or some shit, and finally "We're In This Alone" is like the final piece in the puzzle, it's actually called "We're In this Alone - The Revenge and Redemption of Whiskers Furribottom". So to answer your question, a lot of the energy we put into this band goes into getting into the character of Whiskers Furribottom but since the story is somewhat autobiographical it's not hard to get a real sense of catharsis from this band.

What are you guys doing in the future? tours, records, shows?
We have yet to decide if we've written the last chapter on the whole Whiskers Furribottom thing, like we might do another 7 inch sort as an epilogue or maybe to just milk the thing a little more, like who knows. As for tours and shows and shit like that we'll see on a case by case basis, we haven't played our last show yet so until that day anything could happen really.

This is your wake up call, Wake the FUCK UP!

I cannot get enough of these guys right now. Wake up call, from Maine are fast, heavy and positive. With fast guitars, and even faster drums and aggressive vocals the music is addicting and fun to listen to.
The band is not releasing their anticipated record until later notice, due to "too many people in it for the wrong reasons". This is understandable, as the hardcore music scene is slowing drifting away from what it used to be.
Support your local hardcore!

Hopefully I will have an interview with Let down within the next week.
They just finished a US tour with Ceremony and Blacklisted.
Should be a good read.

This time, no one makes it home.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ghostlimb. They blow my mind. The combine the aggressive thrashy essence, similar to Bracewar or Spazz, with melodic hardcore. The two together make for an entertaining listen.

Bearing & Distance's lyrics are what defines the album. They range from many topics, from religion to politics, personal boundaries and individuality.  Any mood that you are in, there is a song on this record for you.

Favorite lyrics:

The Catholic kid says he's keeping it the same and the mistakes of his parents he'll carry to his grave and the Christian kids say it's how it's always been, where the battle lines are clearly drawn between piety and sin he said lovers of prostitutes are happy, fit and satisfied. As for me, my arms are broken from grasping the clouds.

This EP is amazing, go check them out and support them.

I was up until 5:40 AM.

Having a terrible sleep, and then waking up by remembering you have a class at 9:00 AM is not the way i want to start my Thursday.
When i woke up, I needed something to get me through the day.
I remembered i had a copy of ON's new demo.
This band is remarkable, a combination of many big name bands in hardcore.
In my opinion, a combination of Sinking Ships, Shipwrecked and a little bit of Have Heart to boot.I got into the tracks, really quickly and soon enough, i wasn't as fatigued as I usually am after the circumstances that occurred.
They are recording a new 7" that I have no doubt will live up to Vital Times' energy.

Charles Bronson

This is incredibly pissed off fast hardcore. One of my favorite records to listen to when i'm feeling like shit, pissed off, or just in the mood for something fast. They also did a split with Spazz, an influential fast hardcore band.  If you're into songs that are get to the point, no bullshit, then either pick up the Spazz vs. Charles Bronson split, or their full length.
You will not be disappointed.

Goals

First blog. First Output. Fresh start.
